About the White Rock Events Society
The White Rock Events Society was formed in 2013 by 5 longtime community minded residents wanting to rejuvenate the White Rock Sea Festival for it’s 65th Anniversary in 2014. We also brought back the Torchlight Parade and built an award-winning Goodwill Ambassador float for the City of White Rock.
Lofty goals, yes, but we were successful.
Our original directors were involved in Sea Festivals in the 80’s and 90’s, then took a long break before reorganizing in 2013. We produced the festival until we handed the reins to the city in 2018.
The pandemic hit in 2020 and changed everyone’s life. All events and gatherings were on pause until it was safe to connect with each other again.
In February 2021 we started thinking about a fun event that did not include sand and would be environmentally friendly. We were very aware safety is a priority and following protocols a must.
We came across the Castlegar Sculpturewalk and thought an outdoor project along the promenade in White Rock could be perfect. We have been working on this event for over 2 years and gathered as much information as possible. We met with the originators of the Castlegar Sculpturewalk and the Penticton’s Public Art event. A wealth of information.
White Rock is a unique city, and we will put our own spin on this great art event.
